With WWDC done with, Apple watchers' thoughts turn inevitably to the iPhone 12 launch in autumn. It's the biggest event in the company's year, and a focal point for the hopes and predictions of pundits and customers alike. Neither group is particularly easy to please, and there are distinct rumblings about one subject in particular. It's looking increasingly likely that the iPhone 12 won't come with a charger or a set of headphones - most recently, a 3D render of the box insert indicates no space for either accessory - and this is proving unpopular. I'm one of the writers who's consistently defended this idea, pointing out that most iPhone buyers already have one (or frequently more than one) 5W charger and set of EarPods knocking around at home from a previous purchase; and that a lot of us don't even use them, having upgraded to a faster 12W plug or a set of wireless earbuds . Insisting on bundling these frequently unwanted accessories makes little sense from an … [Read more...] about ‘Price rise’ for iPhone 12 despite lack of accessories

The Psychology of Negotiation, Explained
Source: Free-Photos, heblo, & Chickenonline/Pixabay (Modifications: Arash Emamzadeh) Negotiation is a big part of life. For instance, you negotiate with your boss for a higher salary or more fair distribution of the workload, with a car dealer or home seller for a better price, and—the most difficult of all—with your little one about eating broccoli. By manufacturer, … [Read more...] about 5 Reasons Amazon Should Stay Out of the Smartphone Market
Shopping Scams Await Online Bargain Hunters
With holiday shopping season in full swing, consumers are turning to online shopping to search for the best deals they can find. Stores like Walmart have already released their Black Friday specials and Cyber Monday deals follow close behind. But when you type "best deal on..." into a search engine, you just might end up at a site selling counterfeit goods. Nielsen conducted research looking at over five million shopping sessions and the search terms used in those sessions and found one in five bargain hunters (American and European) wound up on sites selling counterfeit goods. The ones who were taken to the rogue sites had searched terms like "cheap," "discount" and "outlet". They must have found great deals, however, because those shoppers were also more likely to actually put something in their cart. That's because the fake goods are priced to appear as an amazing deal on the product you're looking for. The discount is usually 25 to 50 percent below regular price, and the … [Read more...] about Shopping Scams Await Online Bargain Hunters
