Twitter will not end the practice of allowing people to post from anonymous accounts despite protests from Premier League chiefs over the abuse suffered by several of their star players. Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham said this week that abuse endured by black players on social media sites is the "biggest problem" in football. On Friday, Arsenal winger Willian called for change after revealing he was called a "monkey" by two different Instagram users following Arsenal's 1-1 Europa League draw against Benfica. Willian's Arsenal team-mate Eddie Nketiah, Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and Chelsea's Reece James are among the others to have suffered racist abuse on social media. A number of the abusive messages have come from accounts where an individual hides behind a pseudonym, and it has been repeatedly mentioned within football that social media companies should prevent anonymous users. Twitter founder’s first tweet draws $2.5 million bid at auction
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is auctioning his first ever tweet on a website that sells tweets as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Bidding had reached $2.5 million (€2.1 million) on Saturday, indicating the potential in selling virtual objects that have been authenticated through blockchain technology. Who is bidding on the tweet? The post — "just setting up my twttr" — was sent from Dorsey's account in March 2006. While old offers on the post indicate that it was put for sale in December 2020, the auction picked up momentum after Dorsey posted a link to the online marketplace "Valuables @Cent" on Friday. The highest bid for the tweet — $2.5 million — came from Bridge Oracle CEO Sina Estavi. It topped TRON founder Justin Sun's $2 million bid. Even after it is sold, Dorsey's tweet will remain online for all to see as long as he and the social media platform leave it up. What are NFTs? NFTs are digital files that act as digital signatures to certify who owns online media. … [Read more...] about Twitter founder’s first tweet draws $2.5 million bid at auction

Why this may seem like a mere novelty at first, it’s actually extremely useful for situations where you’re occupied or can’t fiddle much with an iPhone, like when driving or running. Because you can summon Siri from the ear phones that come with all iOS devices, this lets you post to your social accounts hands free. Before being able to post status updates to either social service, you’ll have to add or configure the appropriate accounts to iOS first. Once this is done, you’ll have access to Twitter and Facebook from Siri, and also from Notification Center. Adding Twitter & Facebook Accounts to iOS Open Settings then go to “Twitter” or “Facebook” Enter the username/email address and password information for the appropriate service, then tap “Sign In” to verify the account Once you have the accounts configured, posting messages and sending tweets to either … [Read more...] about Post to Twitter and Facebook with Siri
