Air quality in northern provinces enjoys improvement
According to the results from 31 points of key economic zones and urban areas that were gathered between May 8 and 25, temperatures tended to hover around 28.6 degrees Celsius to 37.2 degrees Celsius, with humidity calculated between 63.7% and 77.2%. Furthermore, the Total Suspended Particles index witnessed a sharp drop in automatic environment monitoring stations that are located in close proximity to industrial zones (IZ). The index falls within the permitted level in IZ in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, and Hai Duong provinces. Most notably, it increases slightly in Nhu Quynh IZ in Hung Yen province and Quang Minh IZ in Vinh Phuc province, exceeding the allowed level set by Vietnamese National Standards. In relation to traffic points, the index in May decreased strongly in comparison to May, 2019. SINGAPORE: At his wits’ end, Mr Danny Raven Tan, 53, once threatened his dementia-stricken mother with a chopper because she was “driving him nuts”. Since she was diagnosed with the illness that causes impaired intellectual functions and personality changes in 2015, his mother, who is now 88, would tiresomely ask him about his father and godmother, both of whom had died, frequently raise her voice at him and accuse their helper of stealing her money. “At that time, I didn’t know anything about dementia and it was eating me up,” said Mr Tan, who quit his full-time job in marketing to be the primary caregiver for his mother and now runs an art gallery. COVID-19 vaccination campaign starts in Vietnam on Mar. 8
Frontline healthcare workers at National Hospitals for Tropical Diseases in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and people in Hai Duong, the epicenter of the country’s latest coronavirus outbreak have been selected to receive first shots this time. Three Deputy Ministers of Health have fanned out to oversee the vaccination in Hanoi, HCM City and Hai Duong, according to Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long. This is the first time Vietnam has launched the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, using more than 117,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine imported last month. The vaccine has passed quality tests by leading professionals from the MoH and their counterparts from the Republic of Korea. Top priority will be given to the safety of the vaccine, said Minister Long, adding doctors have been equipped with necessary knowledge to deal with possible emergency cases. Sex ratio among tribals better than general population: Prez
DAMOH President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday said people can learn a lot from tribal communities where there was no gender-based discrimination and as a result, the sex ratio among them was better than the general population. Addressing a state-level ‘Janjatiya Sammelan (tribal meet)’ here in Madhya Pradesh , Kovind said in tribal societies , groups are given importance over individuals and cooperation is encouraged instead of competition. “We can learn a lot from our tribal brothers and sisters. In tribal communities, stress is laid on unity-based societies,” he said. “There is no discrimination between men and women, and that is why the sex ratio in these communities was better than the general population,” he added.
