Mumbai Weather: Mercury rises to 38.1 degrees Celcius in the city today

The IMD has predicted that the temperature will remain high on Saturday as well After experiencing a scorching Wednesday, there was no respite for Mumbaikars as temperatures remained high on Friday. As per reports in Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celcius. The temperature was recorded at the Santacruz Station. While in the Colaba station, the maximum temperature is recorded at 38.8 degrees Celcius. Meanwhile, in Thane, the temperature recorded stood at 37 degrees Celcius on Friday. FOG warnings were in force today on the first day of spring - and snow is on the way. South Canterbury summer average despite extreme weather events

Summer presented some weather extremes across South Canterbury, while statistics show close to average rainfall and temperatures compared to historical data. Timaru broke a five-year record on January 26 with conditions warming to 37.5 degrees Celsius, while a January 3 storm, which deluged parts of Waimate’s business area , was treated as a one-in-80 year event. MetService meteorologist Jake Cope said temperatures in December, January and February, were “right on average across summer with 15.3C which was right on average for Timaru itself”. “In December, it ran a bit cooler than usual, January made up for that with a warmer run, then February it ran as normal. Weather: Severe thunderstorm brings torrential rain and hail to Timaru and Waimate

Business owners along Waimate’s main street have sandbagged their shop doors for peace of mind after a severe thunderstorm battered parts of South Canterbury. Fire crews spent an hour pumping water from the area between Queen and Glasgow streets, Waimate, left behind by torrential rain and hail moving over the region on Sunday. MetService had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Duntroon at 1.30pm, updating it over the afternoon as the weather moved over the Waimate District and onto Timaru, St Andrews, and Pareora, before heading offshore about 4.37pm. Sunday's thunderstorm capped off a weekend of extreme weather for South Canterbury and the rest of New Zealand.
