Virat Kohli’s Team is Best in History of Indian Cricket: Sunil Gavaskar

Batting great Sunil Gavaskar heaped huge praise on the current Indian cricket team under skipper Virat Kohli. The legendary cricketer compares Kohli’s Team India to Steve Waugh’s Australia regarding their winning results. Team India has been performing consistently well in the past few years as they have a couple of Test series against Australia Down Under in 2018/19 and 2020/21. Kohli is also the most successful captain of India in home conditions. Gavaskar said Kohli’s India has played dominant cricket Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards West Indies team and won matches consistently like Steve Waugh’s Australia. “It certainly is, look at the way they are consistently, regularly, winning matches and therefore. You know with Steve Waugh’s team in the 90s. Then you look at the West Indies team’s dominance under Clive Lloyd and Viv Richards and Brian Lara sort of for a few years. So when you have a team which is as good as West Indies and Australia in its history perhaps. In 1970s through … [Read more...] about Virat Kohli’s Team is Best in History of Indian Cricket: Sunil Gavaskar

Wildfire deadliest in California history, 42 killed: Sheriff

CHICO, California: Search teams have recovered the remains of at least 42 people killed by a devastating wildfire that largely incinerated the town of Paradise in northern California, making it the deadliest single wildland blaze in state history, authorities said on Monday (Nov 12). Cristiano Ronaldo becomes top goal-scorer in football history, surpasses Josef Bican

Portugal and Juventus' goal-scoring phenom Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed Josef Bican for the most goals scored for club and country in football history -- with his tally now at 760. The Juventus striker continued to defy his age since arriving from Real Madrid for around £100 million in 2018 - and his strike against Napoli in the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday has now moved him top of the all-time scoring charts. Juventus won the Italian Super Cup title after securing a 2-0 win over Napoli. It was the club's ninth Italian Super Cup title and Andrea Pirlo's first trophy as a manager. The first half of the game witnessed a tough competition, with both clubs restricting each other from taking the lead. The first real chance of the game came in the 28th minute when Mario Rui crossed the ball into the box for Lozano, who struck a dangerous header that saw Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny make an incredible save to push it out. The 35-year-old five-time Ballon d'Or winner recently … [Read more...] about Cristiano Ronaldo becomes top goal-scorer in football history, surpasses Josef Bican

Uniqlo founder: ‘For the first time in history, Asian sensibilities are being recognised’

Possibly one of the last places you would expect to find the Uniqlo brand making itself right at home is the Tuileries, that massive pleasure garden of French nobility and erstwhile residence of Gallic monarchs that makes its green presence felt right smack in the centre of Paris. But for four days last month, in the middle of Paris Fashion Week, the Japanese clothing brand established its presence with confident elan at the gardens’ Jeu de Paume gallery, where it held its first ever exhibition that was open to the public. It was a bold and unforeseen step in what certainly looks like Uniqlo’s inexorable trajectory toward world domination – and it was certainly a calculated one. “Coming from Asia and organising an event in the city of Paris during Fashion Week recognises that we are producing products for everyone,” said Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and CEO of Uniqlo’s holding company Fast Retailing. Doing this may have sounded like a crazy idea. But, in the first … [Read more...] about Uniqlo founder: ‘For the first time in history, Asian sensibilities are being recognised’

Golf: Patrick Reed makes only the third hole-in-one in Winged Foot’s U.S. Open history

The American stepped up to the par-three seventh having just made a birdie on the previous hole, and his day was about to get a whole lot better. With 165 yards between tee and the pin, Reed's shot initially hit the green a few yards short but then bounced straight in, much to the 30-year-old's disbelief. Reed, who almost looked embarrassed by the ace, subsequently moved to one under par, having earlier made double bogey at the par-four fifth. The 2020 U.S. Open is the sixth edition to be held at Winged Foot. Mark McCumber made a hole-in-one at the 10th hole when Winged Foot staged the major in 1984, while Peter Hedblom had his moment of glory in 2006 at the third hole.
