New Delhi: The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha on Friday (September 18) released the first selection merit list for admissions to class XI (Plus 2) at its official website- samsodisha.gov.in. The students who got them registered to participate in the admissions process can check their names on the first selection merit list. According to the Student Academic Management System (SAMS), the students can seek admission and the last day fulfill the process is September 21. The website is expected to update the data on students on the same day, and the second selection merit list will be declared on October 3, 2020. Odisha to allow partial reopening of schools for classes 9-12 from November 16
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced the partial reopening of schools for students of classes 9-12 from November 16. All academic institutions across the state, however, would remain closed till November 30. The state government's notifications are part of its 'Unlock-6' guidelines, which were approved by Chief Secretary A K Tripathy. "... The classes of 9th to 12th in schools under the control/superintendence/supervision of School and Mass Education Department will open from November 16, 2020, as per the guidelines/SOP to be issued by the S&ME Department," an official order said. Academic institutions, including coaching centres, have been closed since March in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Four workers die due to gas leak in Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: At least four workers died on Wednesday and a few others fell ill after inhaling a toxic gas leaked from a unit at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of the state-run SAIL in Odisha. According to the official sources, the mishap took place at the Coal Chemical Department of the RSP in the morning, when a total of 10 workers were on duty. Bhubaneswar : After a gap of about nine months, schools across Odisha re-opened their classrooms on Friday to students who would shortly be appearing for their board examination, amid strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. A senior Odisha government official said that seats have been arranged in a way to ensure all social distancing norms are followed, as faculty members, with an eye on meeting the 100-day teaching target, imparted lessons to students of classes 10 and 12. All those who enter school premises will have to wear face masks and use sanitizer, the official said. School and Mass Education Minister S R Dash stated that classes, with not more than 20-25 students, will also be held on Saturdays and Sundays. The syllabus has been reduced by 30 per cent, and no further deduction would be allowed, he said.
