An emergency meeting to adopt the Timaru District Council’s draft Long Term Plan (LTP) for public consultation took just 25 minutes. While the meeting on Friday morning was called because there had been delays in getting the LTP audited on time, councillors took little time in finally approving it on the day. Audit NZ director John Mackey, speaking to the meeting via Zoom, acknowledged the process to get the LTP audited had taken longer than expected, but this was due to the “robust” requirements expected of the office. “There are two factors that pushed the adoption out a week, one is the robust approach, but it was also a tight timeframe. The team was working from a position where they had a lot of work to deliver in a very short time,” he said. With the 2021 NFL Draft so top-heavy at the quarterback position, there hasn’t been much chatter surrounding Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond . A three-year starter for the Aggies, Mond is coming off a 2020 season that saw him complete 63.3% of his passes for 2,282 yards with 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. As of now, Mond appears to be projected as a second or third-round pick, but there is growing interest in NFL teams surrounding the Texas A&M signal-caller. During Sunday morning’s edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter, senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler talked about the upside of selecting Mond. “Teams are saying he’s an intriguing Day 2 option, somewhere in that second to third round range as a potential starter with upside. I spoke to A&M coach Jimbo Fisher who said he’s talked to 10-15 NFL teams extensively about Mond. And they all value the same things. He’s a winner. He won 32 games, four-year starter, experienced, has arm and athleticism and … [Read more...] about Kellen Mond’s 2021 NFL Draft stock is on the rise
With mere weeks until the big guy is back in theaters May 16, the Godzilla battle between Legendary Pictures and producers Roy Lee , Dan Lin and Doug Davison over the upcoming Warner Bros-released reboot looks more likely than ever to be heading to trial. A California Appeals Court judge today rejected Legendary’s attempt to have the matter dealt with in private arbitration ( read it here ). Justice Judith Ashmann-Gerst said that “substantial evidence supports the trial court’s finding that the parties never had a written agreement to arbitrate their dispute.” On January 9 last year, Legendary filed a complaint to remove Lin, Lee and Davison from the blockbuster project with a puny $25,000 payout. According to Legendary, the tiny sum was all the three were entitled to under the March 2011 Producer Loan Agreement between them and the company. Today’s ruling was in response to a May 10, 2013 ruling by Judge Abraham Khan of the LA Superior Court denying Legendary’s … [Read more...] about Legendary “Confident” Of ‘Godzilla’ Lawsuit Outcome Despite Appeals Court Loss
Patrick Herbert , the younger brother of Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert , did not play the entirety of the 2020 college football season at Oregon due to an undisclosed injury. Herbert utilized a redshirt in 2019 and will be a redshirt sophomore in 2021. Herbert is a 247Sports Composite four-star recruit and the No. 9 ranked tight end in the recruiting class of 2019. So far, he has appeared in only one career game for the Ducks vs. Nevada in 2019. On Thursday, Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead gave an update on Herbert’s status ahead of the 2021 season. "Patrick was dinged up a little bit last year," Moorhead said, via Yahoo Sports . "I don't want to say he's starting over from scratch because that's not necessarily the case but I think you see him getting his feet back underneath him and kinda getting reaccustomed to the physicality and the speed of the game." Morehead also went on to explain how gifted of an athlete Herbert is and what he … [Read more...] about Joe Morehead gives update on Oregon TE Patrick Herbert
THE first thing to disclaim is that the title is a question, and it is not rhetorical. I would even have to justify the question, but if we have the arguments that the Warriors ruined the NBA, the Lakers cheated (by trading for AD and trying to sign Kawhi Leonard), then this seems like a fair question. There is a basis for it since James Harden did sabotage the Houston Rockets. What would you call playing badly, blatantly violating Covid-19 protocols (at a strip club, no less), showing up overweight and having your stats dip every game? That could just be dismissed as a dip in performance, but when he suddenly averages a triple double once he changes his jersey, then it doesn’t take much to add one and one together. Harden forced his way out of the Houston Rockets, and he did it his own way. It worked, and this is a player who knows what he wants and finds a way to get it. Harden will flop, bait defenders into flimsy fouls, or travel a lot to get his points. It obviously worked, … [Read more...] about Did the Brooklyn Nets sabotage the NBA?
