The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand reports Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air will likely be the first to resume domestic flights, starting May 1st,2020. The routes will hinge on the decision of each province to ease its lockdown. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand had a meeting with representatives from 20 airlines on Thursday. CAAT director Chula Sukmanop said after the meeting Thai AirAsia would resume domestic services on May 1st. Thai Lion Air said it would wait to see whether the state of emergency would be extended from April 30. The routes each airline will resume depend on the lockdown exit strategy of each province. “We have required airlines to sell tickets for 70% of the capacity of each plane model by taking into account social distancing. Airlines will have to take this measure into consideration when considering resuming services,” Mr Chula told the Bangkok Post . Southwest in-flight Wi-Fi coming next quarter
Southwest Airlines has ordered equipment for an in-flight Wi-Fi service and will start deploying it on planes in the second quarter of this year. After a number of delays, the discount U.S. airline has signed a deal with Row 44 to become the latest carrier to offer wireless Internet access in the cabins of its airliners, according to a Friday posting on the Southwest blog. Once Southwest begins installing the gear, it plans to equip about 15 planes every month and have Wi-Fi available throughout its fleet of 540 craft in early 2012. Southwest has made its name as a no-frills airline and will be adding Wi-Fi after several other U.S. airlines have at least begun their deployments. For example, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines all provide the service on some planes, and the smaller AirTran Airways and Virgin America offer it throughout their fleets. Covid-19: Flight to Cook Islands cancelled in wake of new cases
Cook Islands officials have announced passengers from New Zealand will not be granted entry in the wake of new Covid-19 cases , cancelling an upcoming flight. Health authorities were asking passengers from a flight last Friday to self-isolate. On Sunday evening (New Zealand time), a media release said the Cook Islands Cabinet had met and considered advice and recommendations from officials regarding New Zealand’s recent changes in alert levels . Chompoo, 24, has dreamed of working at an airline for years. With this goal in mind, the aspiring flight attendant majored in English and Mandarin at university to help give her an edge over other applicants. But one year after graduation, the Thai woman's dream has yet to take flight. She failed an interview with a local airline in February, and with global aviation and tourism now battered by the coronavirus pandemic, there are no jobs to apply for.
