Missing Sarah Everard: Police share last known location as desperate search enters fourth day

Detectives searching for missing Sarah Everard have discovered new CCTV footage of the 33-year-old walking home alone. Sarah vanished after leaving a friend's house in Clapham at around 9pm on Wednesday. The Metropolitan Police have today confirmed that Sarah was spotted in footage walking alone on the A205 Poynders Road, from the junction with Cavendish Road, in the direction of Tulse Hill, in south London at around 9.30pm. It appears to suggest she walked through Clapham Common and was heading towards her home, although the force said it is unclear whether she did return to her house. An extensive investigation combining searches and house-to-house inquiries is ongoing to find any further sightings of Sarah. Officers at the Met's Specialist Crime Command are now leading the investigation because of the "complex nature" of the case. Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin said: "I would like to stress that there is no information at this stage to suggest anything … [Read more...] about Missing Sarah Everard: Police share last known location as desperate search enters fourth day

Missing Sarah Everard: Police seen searching ponds as concern for 33-year-old grows

Police can be seen searching the ponds of London's Clapham Common as concern for a missing 33-year-old's wellbeing grows. Sarah Everard has been missing since leaving a friend's house on Wednesday evening. Police investigating the "totally out of character" disappearance earlier released a CCTV image of her. A report on Sky News said the marine policing unit had been searching the ponds in the Common where she is believed to have walked through on her way home, before she went missing. DCI Ian Kenward told Sky they are keeping an open mind but police are "extremely concerned for Sarah's wellbeing". Friends have been out in force in the local area of south London putting up posters with appeals for help. Sarah left a friend's house in Clapham at around 9pm and began walking home to Brixton, Scotland Yard said. She is thought to have left Leathwaite Road through a back gate and walked across Clapham Common and was expected to arrive home around 50 minutes later, but she … [Read more...] about Missing Sarah Everard: Police seen searching ponds as concern for 33-year-old grows

Missing Sarah Everard’s family travel 200 miles to help in desperate search

The family of a woman who has been missing for four days have joined the search to find her. Photos show dozens of London Search and Rescue members assisting police in combing Clapham Common, with Sarah Everard having not been heard from since Wednesday night. The 33-year-old marketing account manager had been visiting a friend in the area before heading back home to Brixton on foot, with her disappearance described as "out of character". Her family have now travelled over 200 miles from York to help out, confirmed Sarah's uncle Doug Everard, while her auntie Jane Everard admitted they are "devastated". Searchers were snapped yesterday in face masks as they trudged through grass looking for clues, with posters of the missing woman in the background. Others in boats with dogs scoured the park's two ponds. Jane told The Sun her niece has a large circle of friends in Durham from her time at university, as well as in the capital. "It has been a real shock. We are all so … [Read more...] about Missing Sarah Everard’s family travel 200 miles to help in desperate search

Switch your iWeb site to a Mac-friendly Web host

With the demise of MobileMe, many Mac users are looking for new homes for their websites, particularly those created in iWeb. Deciding among the thousands of hosting companies can be bewildering. Don’t panic. Here are a few tips to help you choose a new provider and move your sites to their new home. What to look for The type of hosting service most likely to appeal to MobileMe refugees is shared hosting, in which numerous sites and domains share the resources of each physical computer connected to the Internet. It’s inexpensive, and except for high-traffic or mission-critical sites, it’s a good all-around choice for most consumers. First, the good news: Finding a “Mac-compatible Web host” is like finding a “food-compatible restaurant.” Regardless of the server’s operating system, they all work pretty much the same way. If you’re a fairly technical user and can usually figure things out on your own, you can pick a provider regardless of how much the company seems to like Macs. … [Read more...] about Switch your iWeb site to a Mac-friendly Web host

Improve Command Line History Search with These .inputrc Modifications

If you’re a heavy command line user, you’re probably well aware that the arrow keys can be used to flip through previously executed commands and the tab key can complete them. But both of these functions can be significantly improved upon for searching through past command history by adding a few modifications to your .inputrc file. The first two lines allow you to use the arrow keys to flip through command history for either a specific command, or even just the beginning of a specific command. For example, if you recall a command started with “c” but you’re not sure what else, you could simply type ‘c’ and then hit the up arrow to start searching through command history for anything that begins with the letter c. This also works to search through full commands, so you can search all history for the ‘curl’ command by typing curl and then following it up with the up or down arrow. The second batch of three lines are shared from a past tip and greatly improves the Tab completion … [Read more...] about Improve Command Line History Search with These .inputrc Modifications
