The Prison Ombudsman is investigating the death of Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe, the resumed inquest into his death heard today. Sutcliffe, known by his mother's name Coonan, died from a combination of Covid-19, diabetes and heart disease on November 13, 2020. He was being treated at the University Hospital of North Durham, close to the maximum security Frankland Prison where he was an inmate. Sutcliffe, 74, was pronounced dead after refusing treatment for coronavirus . Crispin Oliver, senior assistant coroner for County Durham and Darlington, told the hearing in Crook this morning that Sutcliffe had changed his name by deed poll to Coonan on May 14, 2001. He said that his cause of death had been confirmed as SARS-Covid-2 pneumonia, with diabetes, mellitus and ischemic heart disease as the secondary contributory causes. "I can confirm that the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman report into the death is still pending and I am aware of that," he added. Peter Sutcliffe’s brother urges Yorkshire Ripper’s wife to share what happened to will
The Yorkshire Ripper’s brother has appealed to the serial killer’s former wife Sonia to tell him what happened to the will he left. Mick Sutcliffe claims he has been kept in the dark since murderer Peter’s death from Covid-19 age 74 last November. Sonia still owns their marital home and was given the power of attorney. Sutcliffe was reported to have had an interest in half the house, now said to be worth £250,000. Mick said: “I appeal to Sonia to please tell us what is happening with the will. I’m not after any money, Peter may have left something for me that he wants me to have. "I would like to know what’s going on and whether there is anything I should be knowing. “I’ve not spoken to Sonia in 40 years. Since Peter became ill we have not heard anything from her. “When Peter was ill and dying the prison said they couldn’t tell us anything, despite me being in contact with Peter every week when we spoke on the phone on a Monday. “As Sonia was the point of contact it … [Read more...] about Peter Sutcliffe’s brother urges Yorkshire Ripper’s wife to share what happened to will
Yorkshire Ripper victims’ families demand inheritance share as ex-wife says ‘no comment’
Families ripped apart by one of Britain’s worst serial killers are demanding his estate be shared between them. Mystery surrounds what Peter Sutcliffe has left in his will amid claims he owns two plots of land in Scotland. Sutcliffe boasted that one of the Kray twins offered to buy the land gifted to him by a female admirer while in Broadmoor. But Neil Jackson, 62, whose mum Emily Jackson was Sutcliffe’s second murder victim, says his victims should be given compensation if there are any funds available. And he’s asking the Government to intervene to find out the extent of the killer’s property and funds. Neil, who had to identify his mother’s body when he was just 17 years old, “If there is any money or property that he has interest in, it should be divided up and handed to the families he destroyed. “When he murdered my mum 46 years ago, we got no compensation or support. I have never received a penny. “The Government should really look into what property and money … [Read more...] about Yorkshire Ripper victims’ families demand inheritance share as ex-wife says ‘no comment’
‘Grandad was Yorkshire Ripper’s first unknown kill – he didn’t only attack women’
A man who believes his grandfather was Peter Sutcliffe’s first victim says lives were lost because police were convinced the killer attacked only women. Dad-of-five Fred Craven was killed at his bookmakers’ shop in Bingley, West Yorks, on April 22, 1966. Fred – 4ft 7in and with a hunched back from a spinal disease – died in the same way as the Yorkshire Ripper’s 13 official victims, battered over the head with a blunt instrument. The murder went unsolved but, 40 years after Sutcliffe’s arrest, Fred’s family want the case reopened. Grandson Lee Craven, 51, said: “I feel strongly that my grandfather was the first victim of the Yorkshire Ripper. “I think he found he enjoyed it and he had a long run, I’m afraid.” Fred, 60, lived only doors away from Sutcliffe and his wife Sonia – and the killer used to go to his house for tea. His death certificate says he was killed by “person or persons unknown”. Lee, who works in Bradford’s textiles industry, said: “The police made … [Read more...] about ‘Grandad was Yorkshire Ripper’s first unknown kill – he didn’t only attack women’
MySpace lost more than 50 million songs uploaded between 2003 and 2015
Social media predecessor MySpace has reportedly lost all music files uploaded to the platform between 2003 and 2015, some 50 million songs in total. A faulty server migration has been blamed for the massive loss of video, photo and audio, after redditors discovered yesterday (Mar 18) that they were unable to access older content on MySpace. The site now has a banner at the top of the site telling visitors: “As a result of a server migration project, any photos, videos, and audio files you uploaded more than three years ago may no longer be available on or from Myspace. We apologise for the inconvenience and suggest that you retain your backup copies. If you would like more information, please contact our data protection officer.” Launched in 2003, the site served as something of a one-stop shop for its young demographic - a social networking platform and music discovery hub all collected on one central site. For independent bands especially, MySpace was the place where all of … [Read more...] about MySpace lost more than 50 million songs uploaded between 2003 and 2015
