What Is the Ex-President Thinking?

I was reading the Harry Potter series when I was struck down by the flu in late January. I had a cough, minor temperature swings, dream sweats, and I couldn’t leave my bed for anything but the toilet or the easiest meals. Gumbo soup, pre-cooked chicken in bottled vindaloo sauce, hot and sour soup; the nursing skills of my normally destructive dog; Harry Potter, and watching ballet documentaries on my phone entertained me between long naps. I got tested earlier this week. I didn’t have COVID-19 . Only the cough and sweats fit. I could taste spicy food (it helped me cough), I had no energy to stand up in the shower. It was a run-of-the-mill flu but oh, my, I was bored in that gray space of illness. The impeachment trial of Donald Trump made me human. I watched it on my phone in real-time, read everything I could, watched documentaries about Q, read Twitter like it was the Heathers planning college visits. I knew, as I imagine most of us did, what the outcome of the trial would … [Read more...] about What Is the Ex-President Thinking?

‘Relief’ as educators show out for COVID-19 vaccine appointments in Lafayette

Lafayette teacher Renee Box squeezed her COVID-19 vaccination appointment between repainting her daughter’s bedroom and cooking dinner for her family on a Sunday. The seemingly mundane moment was filled with joy and relief for Box, one of hundreds of teachers getting vaccinated in Lafayette Parish after the state expanded the vaccination eligibility list to include educators and school support staff nearly two weeks ago. Box, a blended third- through fifth-grade teacher with Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy, said she felt a sense of relief and renewed confidence when she received her first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at a Walgreens in Scott. “This is my responsibility to our community ... I am able and willing to be vaccinated and so I should. It’s not just for me or my family, it’s for others ... so that our hospitals aren’t so full, so that people can get the treatment they need when they need it, so the things we love and enjoy about our culture, which involves a lot of … [Read more...] about ‘Relief’ as educators show out for COVID-19 vaccine appointments in Lafayette

Kindly Share This Story: Joseph Oluwatobiloba Abojei, also known as Blessed Boy has advised upcoming artistes never to approach investors empty handed. The musician said, for any investor to respect and value an artiste in whom they will invest, such artiste needs to bring some financial value to the table, and not expect the investor to fund every aspect of his music recording and promotion. He said, “An artiste should be able to tell an investor that this is my plan, this is where I am, and your investment will only help me get to that point that I want to be”. The United States of America based artiste said good music requires good money and an upcoming artiste needs to have another source of income to fund his musical career, he added that it is suicidal for any upcoming to do music full time. ‘Allen v. Farrow’: Docu on 29-year-old sexual abuse case a moral reckoning in the age of #MeToo

It’s more a case of David and Goliath than “Batman v Superman.” Indeed, while the two conflicting parties grappling for their versions of the truth in HBO’s explosive four-part documentary “Allen v. Farrow” are both Hollywood celebrities, you don’t need to be an expert at rocket science to realize just how powerful one is compared to the other. We’re talking about four-time Oscar-winning writer-actor-director Woody Allen (“Annie Hall,” “Manhattan,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and his muse-turned-nemesis actress Mia Farrow (“Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Great Gatsby”). In the ’80s and early ’90s, the fabled couple did 13 films together. Woody, who’s now 85 years old, has made a film every year for 40 straight years, and is now preparing to shoot his 51st film—how prolific can you get? Mia Farrow (right) with Ronan (left) and Dylan—PHOTO COURTESY OF HBO Power couple Woody and Mia were considered a Hollywood power couple until their 12-year romance (they never married and lived in … [Read more...] about ‘Allen v.
