KUCHING: Sarawak reported 252 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (March 8), with more than half in Sibu district, as well as one death. The state disaster management committee said the latest fatality was a 66-year-old man who died at Kapit Hospital on March 6 while being treated for fatigue, fever and cough for the past few days. "An antigen rapid test and a PCR test done at the hospital on March 1 returned positive. The case, who had aplastic anemia, passed away after his condition deteriorated," the committee said in a statement, adding that the state's death toll was now 88. Of the new cases, the committee said 234 were asymptomatic while 18 showed symptoms. Sibu recorded the highest number of new cases with 149, of which 133 were individuals screened during active case detection of contacts, including 109 from the Sibujaya area under the enhanced movement control order. A new long-neck dinosaur discovered in Argentina might be the oldest titanosaur ever discovered. The dinosaur, dubbed Ninjatitan zapati , lived 140 million years ago, which is 20 million years before the appearance of the next known titanosaur species. The discovery suggests that this group of hefty sauropods first emerged on the supercontinent Gondwana , which was made up of what is now South America, Antarctica , Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Indian subcontinent and Saudi Arabia. N. zapati was discovered in 2014 by Jonatan Aroca, a technician of El Chocón Museum in Neuquén, Argentina. Aroca was prospecting at a dig site in southwest Neuquén, located in Patagonia. This site was known for sauropod discoveries, and Aroca was searching for new finds outside of previous excavations when he discovered a titanosaur scapula. The new case in Hai Duong is a person who has been quarantined since Feb. 14, following contact tracing protocol. The patient is being treated at a field hospital in the northern province. Monday evening also saw 11 new imported cases who came to Vietnam from Taiwan, South Korea and the Philippines. They'd been quarantined upon arrival. A 400-year-old settlement belonging to China 's last "primitive tribe" was razed to the ground on Sunday following a serious fire exacerbated by strong winds. The charming village of Wengding, a tourist attraction in China's southwestern Yunnan province, has since been evacuated, with no deaths or injuries reported thus far. According to local media reports, the blaze began in an unoccupied thatch home at 5:40 p.m. local time, with strong winds spreading it to neighboring huts belonging to members of the Wa people. The Wa reside mostly in northern Myanmar, but they also live across the border in northern Thailand and southwestern China.
