TOMS RIVER – An Ocean County grand jury has charged a registered sex offender from Surf City with trying to lure minors for sex.The grand jury handed up an indictment last week charging Kenneth J. Walker, 66, of North 6th Street, Surf City with one count each of attempted sexual assault, attempted criminal sexual contact, attempted endangering the welfare of a child and attempted luring.The indictment alleges that Walker, between Feb. 2 and Feb. 14, used electronic means to set up a meeting with a person whom he believed to be a minor, with the purpose to commit a sexual assault against the person. Lakewood man in child sex case faces additional charges Walker’s plans were foiled, however, after the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office received a tip about Walker’s activities from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, authorities said.Authorities searched Walker’s home and arrested him after he allegedly arranged an in-person meeting with someone he believed to be a minor, they said.Walker already had been classified as a Tier 2 or moderate-risk sex offender, stemming from a conviction for aggravated criminal sexual contact in Middlesex County in 1991, according to the New Jersey… Read full this story
